Tasmanian Greeting Cards - Postures of Attention - Eleanor Ann
In this body of work, landscapes flicker between imagination and reality as I respond to the wildness and winsomeness of nature. Zooming-in close to vast landscapes and exaggerating organic forms, colors, and textures, yields energetic and delightful nuances that shifts the world in and out of familiarity. Layers of paint create a physical representation of the passing and pausing of time. There is grit and body to the colors and brushstrokes that allow the paint to take on movement and vitality. Dancing between abstraction and representation I learn to see, appreciate, and live in the messiness of life; curiosity of this tension between impression and illustration gives way to playful gestures and free exploration of the corners of creation around me. These devotional moments of deep external observation and deep inward imagination, have taught me to view the mundane as extraordinary. Suddenly the shape of a fallen leaf or the line of a twisted branch become symbols and reminders of my delight in the divine. Postures of attention and wonder become contemplative habits that point my gaze outward and upward.

These vibrant printed trinket boxes from local artist Michelle Evans are perfect for keeping your small and precious items safe. Featuring one of Michelle's beautiful artworks on top, sealed with resin and with a glass base, they are the perfect Tasmanian keep sake.
Size:
100mm wide x 90mm high
About Michelle;
Michelle's art practice explores the joy of colour and mark making. Her works are inspired by her love of the Tasmanian/lutruwita landscape, the colours and depth of layers in the rugged mountains, spectacular coastlines, native forests, sweeping bays, picturesque beaches and sparkling lakes.
Michelle's paintings are often a memory of a landscape or the feeling of a place and her response to it. Works are intuitive, colourful and explore mixed mediums and techniques. She captures the small miracles, celebrating the 'ordinary', by layering and weaving the elements together to reflect the beauty that can be found in a small snapshot of the natural world.
Travels through Tasmania's wild landscapes are a constant inspiration. While some people see 'just green' Michelle notices the smaller details in the types of shrubs, the shape of a leaf, the curve of a grass and how, while sometimes unspectacular on its own, an unassuming shrub becomes beautiful as one scintilla of a whole landscape.
Michelle uses a variety of mediums, usually beginning with acrylic then layering and mark making with ink, pastel and watercolour pencil. "I can't tone down the colour even when I try, it's just me!"

Eleanor looks to the natural world for inspiration, she curates (physically and mentally) collections of forms, colours, and textures to use in my work. My creative practice is intertwined with my spirituality as I meditatively and playfully move between illustration and imagination. Flowing from my own posture of attention, my artwork highlights the delight, beauty, and curiosity that can be found in the intricacies of my surroundings. Through my painting and installation work, I invite viewers to engage and connect with the natural world.

Sarah from BOSA Art Co has treated us to some incredible photo prints.
"I have lived on this beautiful island for over 16 years now and it never stops surprising me. Around every corner and in every nook and cranny you find magic, wonder and this kind of wild that you thought only existed in story books.
Over the last few years, I have taken many photos. This collection has some of my absolute favorited images. They capture the moments in time that my heart grabbed a piece of this island to hold forever. I am sure these imagines also resonate with you or someone you love. I hope they do. "

Timber OptionsBlonde and Brunette - Recycled Italyn Hardwood:
Blonde – light brown and yellow coloured timbers with fair tones of ripe wheat, sandy shores and an occasional soft pinkish tinge.
Brunette – dark brown coloured timbers which range from pale brunette through to dark chocolate.
Finished with a protective natural oil coating.
Our hardwoods are recycled timbers; reclaimed from projects such as demolished bridges and old homes. They are premium grade, exceptionally beautiful, durable and character filled timbers.
Raw Pine - Sustainable Queensland Hoop Pine:
Queensland Hoop Pine is a light and lovely timber that has been used as a building and furniture material in Queensland for over 140 years. It is noted as the first export from Queensland when it was trialled for ship masts. Hoop Pine is the common name for what is actually an Araucaria.
Our Hoop Pine is sourced from old plantations that are sustainably and safely managed.
We thoroughly consider our options when selecting materials – to ensure it's is in line with our values of using environmentally sustainable and ethical materials. Before adding Hoop Pine to our range, we researched the environmental certifications and visited local plantations. While surveying the plantations we noted some reduction in the diversity of creatures compared to the nearby State Forest, but also found the plantation provided habitat for many species. We saw the alternative commercial uses of the land in the neighbouring area – cattle grazing and coal mining. The net carbon dioxide intake of a hoop pine plantation is of great benefit.
We are glad to offer our range in lovely, affordable, sustainable Hoop Pine.
